The History of Nafplio
A town that suits all tastes and all ages. Young or old, groups or couples, everyone will enjoy their trip here. Nafplio is the capital of prefecture of Argloida, about 130 km from Athens and was the first capital of Greece from 1827 to 1834. According to mythology, Nafplios, son of the god Poseidon and Amymone, was the first man to live in the city and from him the city took its name. It was shaped mainly during the 15th century, having almost the same form as it has today. The architecture of the old town which has Venetian references combined with the paved, picturesque paths create a unique setting that touches every visitor!
